The 2012 PPI Radio Awards

Welcome to the PPI Radio Awards 2012. Now 12 years old, the “PPIs” aim is to celebrate the art and skill of radio production and programming. With entries increasing year on year, and our judges commenting on the annual improvement in quality, we really are achieving our goal.

The impact of radio on all our lives is a significant one, and the PPIs salute the contribution of writers, broadcasters, producers, reporters, presenters and technicians alike, in informing, educating and entertaining listeners throughout the island of Ireland.

The awards are constantly evolving and the organising committee meets on a regular basis to see what changes should be considered to keep them fresh and relevant. We have made some adjustments to the categories this year and are delighted to establish the PPI Radio Awards “Hall of Fame”. As in recent years a Gold, Silver and Bronze award will be made in each category, The big change this year is that all entries will be uploaded on-line and we say good bye to all those CDs!

The closing date for your entries on-line this year is Tuesday 3rd July 2012. To qualify, entries must have been broadcast between 1st June 2011 and 31st May 2012.

The shortlist of finalists in each category will be announced in early September and as always the winners will be a closely guarded secret until the awards ceremony itself.

The Awards night is on Friday 12th October and we are delighted to return once more to Lyrath House Estate Hotel in Kilkenny “ the home of the PPIs” which has proven to be such a successful venue.
